There are records of the term ‘cocktail’ dating back to 1798. It was on May 13, 1806, in The Balance and Columbian Repository, a New York state newspaper, that the first written definition of the word appeared. It was in response to a reader’s query about an article asking, “What is a cocktail?” The editor replied, “A cocktail is a stimulating alcoholic beverage composed of some variety of distilled spirit, sugar, water, and bitters.”

  • Mojito: This cocktail, originally from Cuba, will captivate you with its freshness, the acidic notes of lime, the best rum, cane sugar, and that unmistakable touch of mint.
  • Piña Colada: the perfect blend of rum, pineapple juice, and coconut milk.
  • Margarita: with tequila, Cointreau, lemon, a touch of orange and salt.
  • Sex on the Beach: Peach liqueur, vodka, orange juice, and cranberry juice. An unbeatable combination. Could it be the worst name ever? We doubt it.
  • Cosmopolitan: Originating in 1934, it was brought back into fashion thanks to the series ‘Sex and the City’ and its unique recipe of vodka, Cointreau, orange juice, and cranberry juice.
  • Manhattan: a short drink made with whiskey, red vermouth, Angostura, cherry, and a touch of orange.
  • Moscow Mule: Made with vodka and ginger beer, garnished with lime juice and a touch of natural ginger.
  • Alexander: A little-known cocktail made with brandy, crème de cacao liqueur, single cream, and a touch of nutmeg.
  • Pisco Sour: Its recipe is considered a cultural heritage of Peru. It’s a refreshing, tangy, and intense cocktail thanks to its pisco base.
  • Tequila Sunrise: Based on tequila, as its name suggests, but unlike its sister, the Margarita, this cocktail stands out for its sweetness, provided by the grenadine and natural orange juice.
  • French 75: An elegant cocktail based on brut cava and gin, with a refreshing and tangy flavor thanks to the lemon juice.
  • Strawberry Daiquiri: Without a doubt one of the most popular cocktail names, with a base of white rum, strawberry pulp, and a touch of citrus.

And now that you know the theory, it’s time to put it into practice…
